Week two brought more experimentation and taking the time to notice what caught my eye. Looking for the finer details or the unexpected rather than just the surface level stuff.
Left Behind – 08/01/2026

As I walked around my local nature reserve on my lunch break my main focus was the nature and landscapes around me that was until started to head home and spotted this tennis ball obviously left behind and forgotten by a dog. I hadn’t seen any dogs while I was walking around so it left a lot of questions that couldn’t be answered. I liked how it blends in with the grass as it’s something most people wouldn’t even notice. Taken with my Canon EOS 250D and my 24mm lens.
Standing Tall – 09/01/2026

I spotted this shot the day before while I was heading into the nature reserve but the shots I took with my Canon DSLR just didn’t look right, it wasn’t capturing the mood I was after so I headed back today with my Instax Mini Evo to grab the same shot. I love how the ivy cascades over the top of the tree stump. Shot with my Instax Mini Evo but not printed out.
It’s All Looking Up – 10/01/2026

Again this is another image I imagined while out walking around the nature reserve, but I ran out of time to get it from the right angle. Having the weekend here gave me the time to walk around and get lots of different angles from different distances to get the perfect shot to match what I imagined in my head. It was pretty grey and overcast so turning it black and white looked best but I’d love to try this same image on a sunny day to see the contrast between the two images. Taken using my Canon 250D and 24mm lens.
Gimme Gimme Gimme – 11/01/2026

Jax, I mean what can I say other than get used to seeing his face. I love images of wide angle animals and the distortions which is what I was going for here however, the widest angle lens I have is 18mm which doesn’t give the intended style. I did however capture him licking his lips while he was waiting (and getting impatient) for a treat. Taken using my Canon 250D and 18-55mm lens.
Runner’s High – 12/01/2026

Today was meant to be my final run on my Couch To 5K program, however, I got half way round and then went light headed so had to head home. I’d snapped with just before I did my warm up as a way to remember and celebrate my progress. Even though it the run didn’t turn out as expected, I’m still very proud of myself for sticking to running regularly and the benefits I get from it. Taken with my Instax Mini Evo and printed on Monochrome film.
In Sickness & In Health – 13/01/2026

As it turns out I hadn’t thought about what I’d do with this challenge if I got ill, which is what happened at the end of this week. I woke up with tonsillitis so spent the day in bed and taking a photo wasn’t really anything I was thinking about until the evening. I see the light hitting through my banister like this every night but decide it could make for a good image using my Instax Mini Evo.
In The Stillness – 14/01/2026

Still feeling ill from tonsillitis but trying not to go stir crazy I took Jax for a short morning walk. Early enough not to bump into anyone, the sun just starting to rise and a crescent moon still in the sky. It was a cold frosty morning but everything about this image is what I love about winter. The orange glow as the sun rises above the horizon against the crisp blue sky and the silhouette of the bare trees. Taken using my iPhone 16 Pro.
Again simplicity and minimalism is showing through with this weeks images, though I do want to explore some more fun styles especially with Jax and other animals. One thing I do need to think about is what to do if I get ill, maybe to give myself a bit of leeway on those days allow myself to edit photos that were taken on a previous day or something?!
