This week, I’ve felt very low on creativity, the weather has been pretty rubbish making it harder to get out and about. This means that most of this weeks photographs were taken either in my house or garden.
Elevenses – 29/01/2026

Today, I went on a bit of a sheep hunt in the next village over. They’re usually moved between a couple of different fields and while I did find them in the final field unfortunately they were too far away for me to capture even with my longest lens. However, I got lucky as I was walking home I met this little one enjoying a mid morning snack and he happily sat on the fence for me to take some photos. Taken using my canon 250D & 55-250mm lens.
Caught In The Dreams – 30/01/2026

I’ve had this image in my head for a few days and the grey skies of today made it possible. I had to wait a while for the rain to stop and for a bird to fly over head, as well as time pressing the shutter so it was still in view but I’m very pleased with the outcome. Captured with my Instax Mini Evo in monochrome but not printed out.
Wanna Fight?! – 31/01/2026

Finally a dry morning to take my camera out on the dog walk, I’m trying to get more comfortable taking my camera out around people I know rather than just keeping it to myself. One thing I can always count on is some great expressions from Jax when we’re out for a walk, usually he’s getting impatient for me to give him a treat. This one looks like he’s ready to fight me for a treat. Taken using my Canon 250D and 18-55mm lens.
Common Beauty – 01/02/2026

Well I went for a walk around the local nature reserve but as soon as I got there it started raining, I managed to find cover but it meant the birds went into hiding so I ended up heading home after about an hour with minimal images. Then this beauty graced my garden and with the rain finally holding off I managed to grab a portrait of this beauty, something commonly overlooked. Taking using my Canon 250D and 55-250mm lens.
Don’t Look At Me – 02/02/2026

Another rainy and grey day keeping us inside but this little one was acting cute and I was able to grab this shot. I’m usually normally too slow to catch the cute shots like this and by the time my camera or phone is out he’s moved position so I’m grateful he stayed still for me. Taking with my iPhone 16 Pro.
Strike A Pose – 03/02/2026

This little great tit kept landing on the fence in my garden, it was another rainy day so this was taken from the back door. It was very low light, there was a lot of noise and he’s not in full focus, along with his head blending into the background but today didn’t bring much opportunity to get my camera out or inspiration to bring creativity. Taken with my Canon 250D and 55-250mm lens.
A Softness To The Day – 04/02/2026

I actually took this one on my phone to try and identify the birds that were flocking above me on the dog walk. I’m sure they’re gulls but not 100% sure which type. The photo is actually quite blurry but I think that adds to the movement of the birds and shows theres action in the shot. Taking using my iPhone 16 Pro.
So while this week was difficult in terms of being restricted by the weather and a lack of inspiration led me to a week of photographing the subjects that I’m realising are what I’m naturally drawn to – animals, pets and wildlife. There’s a part of me that want to focus on and refine my skills in this area while another part of me want to keep experimenting and trying new things. Lets see what the next week brings.
